Boulder Photographer – Smitten & Swoon Photography
I recently photographed a family photos for my dear friend Stephanie. She had her immediate family as well as her sister, brother and mom all together for the session. It was a large group! They came prepared with a cooler for the adults and some candy for bribes for the kiddos. We spent time capturing them as a group and then broke off into their smaller family units. Everyone was so patient and kept their energy up for the entire length of the photo session. It’s so important to take the time to get everyone together for these types of photos. The images will be something your family will always have to look back on. I love how well their wardrobe coordinated for the large family photo. Everyone’s choices worked together perfectly. We later did a couple of outfit changes just to give more variation to the photos. It helps to do some pre-planning when shooting a group this large. You want to have a game plan of all the photos you want. Especially when working with young children you never know how much time you are going to get with them cooperating. We were able to move through our list of priorities quickly and have plenty of time left over to get “extras.” I always look forward to spending time photographing Stephanie’s family. As their family continues to grow it’s important to capture these moments for them to have to treasure always.
